I have a few tax liens that appear on my personal credit report that are from sales tax reporting forms that were not filed by their due date, and the state estimated the tax and then filed a tax lien for the ridiculously high estimated tax. Since learning of this, I have filed the forms, and the state has sent letters stating that no tax is due and no further action is required.

Usually tax liens are reported for 7 years from date of payment under the FCRA Running of Reporting Period – Section 605 [15 U.S.C. § 1681c]

They are also public record which means the CRA’s will be notified by your states tax collectors office that no taxes are due and the lien has been satisfied. So I would venture to say, they (the CRA’s may use the date they receive information as the date of payment. You might be able to get the state tax collectors office to request that the Tax Liens be removed immediately as only they have the legal right to request an entry that they made be deleted.

Hope this helps.
